Layne’s Jewelry & Design Named Small Business of the Year in Ascension Parish

(Gonzales)- Layne’s Jewelry & Design was recently named 2006 Small Business of the Year by The Ascension Chamber of Commerce. The honor is awarded annually to a small business that has made a name for itself while making a positive difference for Ascension Parish and its businesses. 

“We are honored to have received this award,” says Gautreau. “Thanks to the support of our community, Donna and I have had the good fortune to build a wonderful business in this parish.” he adds.

Gautreau serves on the Ascension Chamber Board of Directors along with 15 members of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, and will serve a three-year term.

Layne has been an active part of this community by participating as a Volunteer Fireman with the St. Amant Volunteer Fire Department since 1981.  He has held the position of President for over the past 11 years.

The contributions from Layne’s Jewelry & Design are great, but due to Layne’s modesty tend to go unnoticed. Each year Layne designs, produces & donates the Championship ring for the Jambalaya festival winner. Not to leave anyone out, he also designed and donates the pendants for Jambalaya festival Queens, and pins for the runner up.

Layne’s Jewelry & Design also assists with Volunteer Ascension, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Battered Women’s Shelter, Area Girls & Boys Little League Softball Teams, Area High Schools, and Ascension Community Theatre
